My 2012 archery elk season ended with wolves howling in the valley and a full moon on the horizon. It was another magical year with close encounters, opportunities and memories that will last forever. However, this year was a lot different. Idaho suffered the worst wildfire season to date and smoke filled skies lasted the entire hunting season.
As long as I am physically capable of chasing elk in the rugged mountains of Idaho I will continue to put on the camo, set the alarm and push myself to the limit.
A few years ago I shot my first bull elk with my bow. The feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction of matching wits with the majestic bull elk will keep me eagerly anticipating next year’s hunt.
