This past August, I had the the opportunity to join Sun Valley Outfitters for a hunt of a lifetime in the remote back country of central Idaho. The name of the video, “Firestorm Buck”, is due to Idaho’s worst forest fire season on record.
It’s hard to describe the amount of hard work and planning that goes into a successful back country hunt. Extreme weather conditions, rugged terrain and pack animals can make things go from bad to worse if you’re not paying attention.
The hunt was a memorable one for many reasons. Not only did I harvest a beautiful mule deer opening day, but I also completed something on my bucket list which was overcoming my last knee replacement surgery and hunting high alpine mule deer.
